cottage farm campsite, BuxtonAnyone reading the last post made over 2 weeks ago about how wet it was in Buxton may have thought we’d been washed away as it has taken almost this long to dry out and get blogging again!

It must have been the wettest couple of weeks so far this year, and hopefully we’ll only have sun from now until September!

Cottage Farm Campsite is a small to medium sized campsite in a lovely area of thecountry midway between Bakewell and Buxton just far enough off the main road so traffic is only a murmur and phone/internet signal gets a bit  wobbly!

The pitches are on terraces and are suitable for the average caravan or motorhome. Site power is situated on each pitch, no need for the 25m cable!  Although the hardstanding pitches are level the grass in between them does slope a bit unevenly, so beware if planning on pitching awnings on grass.

The Showerblock is best described as adequate, with a few fundemental flaws. Placing coin operated showers with the coin box outside the shower cublicle is a bit of a fail. The cherry on the cake though was the PIR Lights in the showerblocks, which needed to register movement every 3minutes. This required you to exit the shower cubicle and wave your arms around to get the lights on again. Hopefully the planned showerblock improvements later this year will address this appalling oversight.

Overall it’s an average campsite with reasonable facilities, including a small shop, though only if you can call a place selling a few tins of beans and sweets a shop! This site may well be worth a return visit next year if showerblock improvements are worthy, though we’d like to guarantee some good weather to enjoy the peak district next time!

Currently in the New Forest with overdue blog entries on our trip to Grimsby, Brighton and my Birthday! Hope to have these done in the next couple of days!
